The Public Information and Public Relations Office informs the public about the following:
On October 22, 2018, Mr. Augustin Lazar, the Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice (PÎCCJ), had a working meeting with a delegation composed of Diego Garcia-Sayan, UN Special Rapporteur on the Independence of Judges and Lawyers, and former Minister of Justice and Foreign Affairs of Peru, Mr. Hartmut Rank, Director of the South East Europe Rule of Law Program, Ms Franziska Rinke, International Rule of Law Programme and Mr. Christian Steiner, former Director of the Rule of Law Program for Latin America.
During the meeting, Mr. Augustin Lazar presented the history and structure of the Romanian Public Ministry, as well as aspects related to the status of prosecutors. The main topics addressed were the independence of prosecutors, the appointment of high-level prosecutors from the Public Ministry, legislative amendments aimed at the judiciary and criminal codes.
